🚩 Possible Indicators of Trafficking or Coercion

  • Someone else speaks for them or controls communication
    → May indicate monitoring, intimidation, or fear of retaliation.
  • Fearful, anxious, submissive behavior
    → Common in victims experiencing psychological control, threats, or abuse.
  • Avoids eye contact / appears coached
    → Could suggest rehearsed responses due to fear of punishment.
  • Doesn’t know their location or basic details
    → May indicate isolation, restricted movement, or being transported frequently.
  • No access to ID documents
    → Traffickers often confiscate passports/IDs to maintain control.
  • Not allowed to move freely
    → A major warning sign of forced labor or sexual exploitation.
  • Signs of physical abuse or neglect
    → Physical control is frequently used in trafficking situations.
  • Inconsistent or scripted stories
    → Fear-driven attempts to avoid revealing the truth.
