Bring Awareness

Human trafficking is a global crisis requiring immediate, coordinated action to raise awareness and support survivors. Key actions include learning to spot signs (e.g., restricted movement, fear, signs of abuse), reporting suspicious activity, supporting anti-trafficking organizations, and using social media (#endtrafficking, #WearBlueDay) to educate communities.

Key Ways to Bring Awareness and Take Action

  • Educate Yourself and Others: Learn to recognize the warning signs of sex and labor trafficking. Familiarize yourself with the Trafficking in Persons Report (TIP) for global, up-to-date information.
  • Support Awareness Days: Participate in National Human Trafficking Prevention Month in January, particularly #WearBlueDay on January 11.
  • Utilize Social Media: Spread awareness by sharing verified information and resources from reputable, anti-trafficking organizations.
  • Advocate Locally: Contact local, state, and federal officials to inquire about their actions against trafficking. Encourage schools and businesses to implement training programs and awareness curricula.
  • Be a Responsible Consumer: Research companies and avoid purchasing goods known to be produced using forced labor.
  • Report Suspicious Activity: If you suspect trafficking, report it to the National Human Trafficking Hotline or federal law enforcement, where you can remain anonymous.
  • Donate/Volunteer: Support organizations focused on victim, survivor, and prevention efforts.
